Top 5 Tips for Spring Cleaning

Spring Cleaning:

So the weather has turned and spring has finally arrived! Now, with the thoughts of warmer days and outside activities, there is something that needs to be done..the dreaded spring cleaning. The thoughts of cleaning your home every spring can be a truly daunting task. Most people start to look at the list of things to do and instantly get disheartened, so we have decided to list a few tips to help get you motivated and maybe help your spring cleaning projects a little better!

Tip #1: Don’t try to do everything at once

It’s very easy to get so caught up in the rapture of cleaning your home that soon you have discovered that you have bitten off more than you can chew. Remember the story of how you can eat an entire elephant. One bite at a time. The key to a successful spring cleaning is knowing that the race is a marathon and not a sprint.

Determine to clean one room at a time and don’t start new projects until the current one is finished. This seems like a simple tip but it so easy to lose focus and start down a new trail that will always lead to more and more work.

Spring Cleaning Tip #2: Get Rid of the Clutter

We all know how it is. That stack of newspapers and magazines that you were going to get around to reading all winter has taken on a life of its own but now its time to go. The second tip on our list for a successful spring cleaning is to get rid of all the clutter that has built up over the winter.

Getting rid of clutter freshens up your space and instantly makes your room bigger! A good rule of thumb for cleaning bedroom closets is to only keep the items (like clothing) that you have worn within the past year.

Spring Cleaning Tip #3: Remember to clean your walls and curtains

An often neglected area of spring cleaning is the walls and curtains inside your home. If, for instance, someone in your family smokes, you may be surprised at how yellowed and grimy your walls can become over the winter months.Always use a mild detergent or natural cleanser to soap down your walls and trim when you plan on spring cleaning. This simple cleaning method will add brightness to your room and instantly make your room healthier for your family.

Spring Cleaning Tip #4: Use your dishwasher

No one likes to deep clean everything and if they do then something is definitely wrong with them. However, sometimes it just needs to be done whether we want to or not.

This spring cleaning tip lets your dishwasher do the work for you! Small items like hard to clean light fixtures and most durable decorative glassware can be cleaned on the light setting. Make sure you check it first but why not let the dishwasher do some of the work for you?

Spring Cleaning Tip #5: Don’t forget to include everyone

Always keep in mind that the payoff for your hard work is a nicer, cleaner and even healthier home for you and your family. Try to get as many family members involved as possible to make it a group effort when you clean. Every pair of hands no matter how small is a chore that one person doesn’t have to do alone.
